Quezon city – In celebration of the 123rd Philippine Independence Day, one of its highlights, AFP’s Musikalayaan 2021 has pushed through virtually on “Ang Katropa Mo”-DWDD Crs Virtual RTV. Nine bands from different uniformed agencies have competed for the Musikalayaan 2021 championship. Panther Echo Band of BFP Muntinlupa, with the special participation of Daranak Band of BFP Region 4A, has raised the flag of the Bureau of Fire Protection during the live streaming of the competition eve of the Philippine Independence Day. The outpouring support of firefighters and their immediate circles for the band has sealed its victory with 82.22% total score coming from 62.77% judges score and 19.45% from the 6176 online votes and engagement. Panther Echo Band said: “[A]ng kantang ‘Kapit-bisig’ ay inspired by the desire of incorporating music into our campaign for fire prevention, highlighting the importance of the involvement of the community. Ginawa din po namin ito para sa lahat ng kawani ng BFP na patuloy na tumutugon sa tawag ng tungkulin”. The band’s humble beginnings is traced to a fire volunteer’s donation of a drum set to the Regional Office. From there assembled the musical enthusiasts among personnel from different offices, now known as the Panther Echo Band. Created on May 16, 2019, Panther from BFP Fire District 3’s call sign and Echo from Bfp Muntinlupa is an exclusive rock/variety band. The members of the band are: SFO1 Jonirie V Dollente, lineman concurrent fire safety investigator, on vocals; FO1 Ma Isabel T Gonzales, fire scene photographer, on vocals and acoustic guitar; FO2 Fred Roland L Natividad, EMS crew, on bass; FO1 Jonas D Redondo, nozzleman, on lead guitar; and NUP (civilian employee) Alejandro R Catu, leave processor, on drums.
